About UPSC

The Civil Services Examination is a national competitive examination in India conducted by the Union Public Service Commission for recruitment to higher Civil Services of the Government of India, including the Indian Administrative Service, Indian Foreign Service, and Indian Police Service.

Indian Police Service Eligibility

The aspirants in the age group of 21-32 years can appear for the UPSC CSE examination every year. There is a relaxation in the age limit for OBC, SC, and ST candidates. You just need to be a graduate to appear for the Civil Services Exam. Physical requirements for IPS

The minimum height required for a male aspirant is 165 cm minimum. For the female candidate, the minimum height requirement is 150 cm. However ST candidates have a relaxation of 5 cm, hence the requirement is only 160 centimeters for ST male candidates and 145 centimeters for ST female candidates. Relaxed minimum height is prescribed not only for candidates belonging to Scheduled Tribes but also for races such as Gorkhas, Garhwalis, Assamese, Kumaonis, and Nagaland Tribal, etc. whose average height is distinctly lower. After the full form of IPS, we will cover the other eligibility criteria other than height. IPS chest girth requirement for the male aspirants is 84 cm. The chest girth when fully expanded for female candidates is 79 cm. The aspirants should also be able to expand chest size by 5 cm.

Indian Police Service Eyesight Requirement

Distant Vision: For a better eye, the corrected vision should be 6/6 or 6/9. For the worse eye, the corrected vision should be 6/12 or 6/9.
Near Vision: For a better eye, the corrected vision should be J1**. For the worse eye, the corrected vision should be J2**.
Note: You are declared unfit for IPS if you have a squint. Also, you need to have binocular vision and high-grade color vision to be medically fit for IPS.

How can you become an IPS officer

There is no such magic related to clearing the IPS examination. You need to follow the basic guidelines which is the “Ram Ban” (must be followed). Below we have given some important mandatory guidelines which are must be followed after the full form of the IPS
