The full form of BMW is “Bayerische Motoren Werke Aktiengesellschaft” or “Bayerische Motoren Werke AG” or “Bayerische Motoren Werke GmbH”. It is known as BMW, is a car manufacturing company based in Germany. It was founded by Franz Josef Popp in 1916. BMW is headquartered in Munich, Bavaria, Germany. The corporation was founded in 1916 as a manufacturer of aircraft engines, which it produced from 1917 until 1918 and again started from 1933 to 1945.

The Quandt family is a long-term shareholder of the BMW company (with the remaining shares owned by public float), following investments by the brother’s Herbert and Harald Quandt in 1959 which saved the company from bankruptcy. History of BMW
Otto Flugmaschinenfabrik was founded in 1910 by Gustav Otto in Bavaria Germany. The firm was reorganized on 7 March 1916 into “Bayerische Flugzeugwerke AG”. This company was then renamed Bayerische Motoren Werke (BMW) in the year 1922. However, the name BMW dates back to 1913, when the original company to use the name was founded by Karl Rapp (initially as Rapp Motorenwerke GmbH). The name and Rapp Motorenwerke’s engine-production assets were transferred to Bayerische Flugzeugwerke in the year 1922, who adopted the name the same year. BMW’s first product was a straight-six aircraft engine called the BMW IIIa, designed in the spring of 1917 by engineer Max Friz.
In January 2021, BMW announced that its sales in 2020 decreased by 8.4% due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and the restrictions. However, in the fourth quarter of 2020, BMW witnessed a rise of 3.2% in its customers’ demands and explanations. The full form of BMW is described here. The circular blue and white BMW logo or roundel evolved from the circular Rapp Motorenwerke company logo, which featured a black ring bearing the company name surrounding the company logo, and on a plinth a horse’s head cooped. BMW retained Rapp’s black ring inscribed with the company name but adopted as the central element a circular escutcheon bearing a quasi-heraldic reference to the coat of arms (and flag) of the Free State of Bavaria (as the state of their origin was named after 1918), being the arms of the House of Wittelsbach, Dukes, and Kings of Bavaria.
